To check a USDT TRC-20 address, paste it into a screening tool and read three things off the verdict: the risk level, what the address is attributed to when anything is known about it, and the categories sitting behind that level. Five steps, and four of them are habits rather than software. Wallets and exchanges print the standard as TRC20; its name is TRC-20, same thing.

Risk categories. What kind of risk, not only how much. Sanctions exposure, scam and phishing reports, darknet markets, ransomware, stolen funds, mixers. Two addresses at the same level can call for opposite answers, and the category is what separates them. Sanctions exposure is a hard stop for anyone who will ever deposit to a regulated venue. A gambling cashier is a preference, not a violation.
Direction of exposure. Where the risk sits relative to the address: money that came in, or money that went out. A verdict reports what is known about an address at the moment you run it. That is a fact about the address, not legal advice and not proof about the person holding the keys.

Two rules sit on top of it. Category beats level when the category is sanctions: a designation is not a risk appetite question. And an unknown address at a low level is still an unknown address. The level says nothing bad is on record, not that the counterparty is who they claim to be.
A verdict is a photograph, not a subscription. Labels arrive after somebody loses money and reports it, after a seizure, after a new designation. Every reported address was clean once, and the gap between the act and the label is exactly where P2P losses live.
Three habits close that gap. Re-check before the second trade with the same counterparty, because an address you cleared last month is answering last month's question. Check your own receiving addresses too: a bad payment that reached you is visible on your side at the next platform you use. And if you keep taking money to one settlement address, put it on monitoring so a change finds you, not the other way round.
